An Ottoman Mansion from the Late 19th Century
Galata Mansion
In the second half of the 19th century, the Ottoman districts of Galata and Pera flourished, their streets lined with new European-style, multi-storey apartment buildings.
One of the earliest examples of this architectural wave is Habitation Yazıcı—a residence inspired by French design and erected in the early 1890s at No. 47 Yazıcı Street (today Serdar-ı Ekrem Street). Lovingly restored, this Ottoman mansion now welcomes guests as Galata Mansion, blending fin-de-siècle elegance with contemporary comfort.
